Owner: University of Washington
Client/Architect: Kallman McKinnell & Wood Architects - Boston
Completion: 1998

This project involved design for a 260,000-sf new facility and 27,000-sf renovation of the remaining two wings of the Electrical Engineering building. The two-phase project included two auditoriums, eight classrooms, instructional and research laboratories, and support office space for both departments. Flexible mechanical systems were designed to support future evolving technologies and were connected to the campus system by a central utility tunnel corridor. To minimize visual impact of the mechanical system, cooling towers were located inside wells on the pitched roof.
