Healthcare

Owner: Evergreen Healthcare
Client/Architect: Mahlum Architects
Completion: 2007
This expansion and renovation includes a new emergency department, patient tower, and underground parking. The 75,000 sq. ft. emergency department provides 28 acute care rooms, four trauma rooms, and a 10-bed Rapid Assessment Area for less seriously ill and injured patients, as well as improved triage areas, increased patient privacy, and adjacencies to other hospital services.
The eight-story patient tower provides operating rooms and catheterization labs, patient care beds, central service, and support areas. Patient rooms serve either standard medical-surgical or intensive care uses, and will accommodate new and emerging medical technologies. Patient rooms encircle nursing stations for optimal patient visibility.
Both facilities will provide continuous healthcare services in a catastrophic event with alternative power and water sources, the highest seismic standards, and a large exterior decontamination area.
