Bremerton Naval Hospital, Addition & Renovations, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA
Owner: Navy, NAVFAC Northwest
Client/Architect: NBBJ
Completion: October 2001
This 2002 AIA Award winning project for the U.S. Navy involved a 60,000 sq. ft. outpatient clinic addition to a nine-story, 250,000 sq. ft. hospital, as well as renovations to the existing tower and a new 250-car, aboveground parking structure. Notkin's design of separate air handling units for each floor allowed the outpatient floor to operate independently from the rest of the building, further reducing energy consumption in unoccupied spaces.
