Sustainable
Sustainable design has been an important component of Notkin's projects for many years. For mechanical systems, sustainability relates to energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and use of recyclable or recovered materials such as ductwork, piping and plumbing fixtures. Notkin uses variable air volume systems to reduce energy use and minimize waste. Building management control systems such as direct digital control systems are another way to manage energy use. In addition to reuse of equipment, Notkin's expertise includes waste heat utilization, heat recovery and development of comprehensive energy management programs. Notkin offers consulting support to owners, architects and other building team members in implementing the LEED Green Building Rating System™ and principles of the Green Guide for Health Care.
